CRIMSON III and the participation to the DCoC Workshop
The third phase of CRIMSON started in January 2020 and the project has immediately begun working to support all CMR projects in their tasks, namely guaranteeing the visibility of CRIMARIO during this gap between the two phases. Indeed, CRIMSON has sponsored the participation of the CRIMARIO information sharing manager to the Djibouti Code of Conduct (DCoC) Regional Workshop for Information Sharing, that took place in Djibouti on 3-5 March 2020.
The goal of the workshop, organised by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), was to develop the necessary guidelines for a strong regional information sharing network, to meet the objectives of the Jeddah Amendment, geared towards enhancing Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) at national and regional level.
The DCoC Workshop counted on the participation of representatives from Tanzania, Jordan, Somalia, Mozambique, Kenya, Mauritius, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and United Kingdom. The participation to such an event was key to present the updates of the IORIS platform, presented as a key regional tool for incident management at sea.
As a project with no training activities in the field, CRIMSON has not been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and keeps providing recommendations and advice to the European Commission and individual projects as before.

CRIMSON has worked on the design and content creation of the new CMR Newsletter, which will provide readers with expert analysis and quarterly overview of the activities, achievements and outputs of the four CMR active projects, as explained in this issue’s Foreword.
Building of knowledge for CRIMARIO II scoping missions
CRIMSON has been working to support CRIMARIO II during its scoping missions, namely, offering specific technical and policy proposals on whether and how CRIMARIO II could support national and regional maritime law enforcement agencies for concrete capacity building, in accordance with the EU’s Maritime Security Strategy.
